About Me
Hi, my name is Ben. Im a full time musician and guitar teacher. I’ve been professionally teaching guitar in the city of Ottawa for 14 years. Since the start of this pandemic, I’ve been teaching online using Zoom and Skype.
My students range from 8-60+ years of age, beginner to advanced. My goal is to share my passion for the guitar and to motivate you to become the best player you can be. For beginners I teach a fun, energetic lesson to deliver the basics with a modern, simple approach. Or, if you’re a more experienced player looking to take it to the next step, I can help challenge and inspire you to give you the boost you have been looking for.
Ben began his musical journey as an early teen. He started performing at local schools, restaurants and bars while still attending high school. With a career in performance in mind Ben joined the progressive rock band called “Today I Caught the Plague”. After many years of performing clubs across Canada TICTP caught the attention of heavy metal titans “Protest the Hero” who agreed to take them on their upcoming tour of the USA with “periphery” and “Jeff Loomis”. After a very positive reception and successful tour the band signed with Los Angeles based record label Sumerian Records and agreed to change their name to the more commercially accesable The Kindred.
After recording their major label debut “Life in Lucidity” the band continued to tour and had the privilege of supporting acts such as Between the Buried and me, Architects, Intervals, Misery Signals and Devin Townsend. As The Kindred returned home to record their follow up to Life in Lucidity the band experienced multiple line up changes and this unfortunately led to them disbanding before the release of the dual ep Weight and Burden.
Since Ben has kept busy by lending his skills as a session musician for a wide variety a musical genres such as country artist Damien Maze as well as Soul artist Mik Laxton. He is a dedicated and passionate teacher with over 15 years experience.
